China’s economy grew 4.5 % between January and March. The rise was driven by exports and a rebound in retail consumption after authorities lifted most pandemic restrictions. Unveiling the figures, China’s official statistics bureau described them as a good start but said the foundation for economic recovery was not solid yet.
