Das Leopold Museum feiert Geburtstag!
Bereits Anfang der 1950er-Jahre hat Rudolf Leopold während seines Medizinstudiums die Kunst von Egon Schiele entdeckt. Der Grundstein für eine der wichtigsten Sammlungen österreichischer Kunst, heute besonders berühmt für ihren weltgrößten Schiele- Bestand, war gelegt. Nachdem die Familie Leopold jahrzehntelang Museumsausstellungen mit Leihgaben unterstützt hatte, erhielt die Sammlung im September 2001 im Leopold Museum ein permanentes Zuhause im MuseumsQuartier und Österreich ein neues Zentrum für die Wiener Moderne. Rund 119Sonderausstellungen haben in den letzten 20 Jahren die permanente Sammlung mit hochkarätigen internationalen Leihgaben ergänzt.

The Leopold Museum is celebrating its birthday!
Rudolf Leopold discovered the art of Egon Schiele as early as the 1950s while studying medicine. The foundation for one of the most important collections of Austrian art, today particularly famous for its world’s largest Schiele collection, was laid. After the Leopold family had supported museum exhibitions with loans for decades, the collection was given a permanent home in the Leopold Museum in September 2001 in the MuseumsQuartier and Austria created a new center for Viennese Modernism. 119 special exhibitions have supplemented the permanent collection with top-class international loans over the past 20 年.
