7 Architecture Facts pt.40 | Arch, Roman, 希臘語 & Windows

This is a video about 7 facts in architecture. They are as follows; A style that developed out of the Postmodern period of architecture is Deconstructivism. This style embodies a kind of visual lawlessness. Buildings take the form of otherworldly objects that look more like energy than they do functional, habitable enclosures; A keystone is the stone at the center of an arch. It’s typically the last stone installed but the one to experience the least compressive force. Theoretically it is the most important stone in the arch because it’s the physical key that locks them all together; A casement window is hinged on the right or left side and opens in or out. A double hung window opens by sliding vertically. An awning window is hinged at the top and a hopper window is hinged at the bottom. A sliding window opens from left to right; A chamfer is an architectural term for a negative space that’s cut from an object’s corner, typically at a 45-degree angle. The new sloping edge, or chamfer, is designed to run along a portion of the length of an architectural object, such as a post; The Doric order is one of the three original Greek orders. The Greek Doric column is unique because it does not have a base, while the Roman Doric does. The Doric order is slightly more decorative than the Tuscan but less than the Ionic, Corinthian, and Composite; The Tudor style grew out of the late 15th century. It featured details such as four centered arches, hammerbeams, and full timber construction with wattle and daub infill. These details became less structural and more of an aesthetic feature in the Tudor Revival style of the 19th century; A soffit is the horizontal flat portion of a roof overhang that faces downward. The fascia is the vertical portion of a roof overhang that, many times, includes a gutter. The entire assembly is called the eave.
