In the final weeks of the ‘Chalet Dallas’ 展覽, artist Piero Golia discusses with renowned curator Ann Goldstein how he transformed the Nasher’s Corner Gallery into a luxurious gathering space that integrates art, architecture and entertainment.
‘Chalet Dallas’ was a collaboration between Piero Golia and architect Edwin Chan, as well as numberous artist, performers and guests who lent their time, artworks and presences to the utopian idea of community building through carefully orchestrated social gatherings. Re-creating or re-imagining Golia’s previous project chalet Hollywood the warm an convivial architectural environment of the Nasher’s Corner Gallery was the home of Pierre Huyghe’s aquarium; Mark Grotjahn’s ‘Unitiled (My Beautiful Brother Eric Baboon Face 43.30)’; Jeff Wall’s ‘A Sapling Supported by a Post’; and Christopher Williams’ piano, handed down from generations at the Kunstakademie Dusseldorf and reportedly played by Joseph Beuys.
Piero Golia, creator of ‘Chalet Dallas’, 出生於 1974 in Naples, Italy and has lived in Los Angeles since 2003. His work has been shown in major galleries and museums in Europe and the United States, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, MOMA P.S. 1 in New York, MaXXi in Rome, Witte de With in Rotterdam, SITE Santa Fe, and Gagosian Gallery in Los Angeles. 在 2004, his feature film, ‘Killer Shrimps’, was selected for the Venice Film Festival, 並在 2005, he cofounded the Mountain School of Arts, an educational institution that has rapidly become a major center on the cultural map of the city of Los Angeles.
Ann Goldstein served as Director of the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam from 2010-2013, overseeing the reopening of the renovated and expanded facility in September 2012. Prior to joining the Stedelijk, she served as Senior Curator at The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA), where she worked for 26 years from 1983-2009. With a curatorial career spanning 30 年, she is recognized for such large-scale historical survey exhibitions as ‘A Minimal Future? Art as Object 1958-1968′,’1965-1975: Reconsidering the Object of Art’, and ‘A Forest of Signs: Art in the Crisis of Representation’, as well as solo exhibitions of the work of Mike Kelley, William Leavitt, Martin Kippenberger, Lawrence Weiner, Cosima van Bonin, Jennifer Bornstein, Barbara Kruger, Christopher Wool, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Cady Noland, and Roni Horn. 在 2012, in recognition of her work, the Center for Curatorial Studies at Bard College presented Ms. Goldstein with the Audrey Irmas Award for Curatorial Excellence.
