For devout Indians, real life begins with marriage. Weddings follow classical Hindu rituals and usually last a whole week. Moreover, an Indian wedding is a true family affair: it is not for the groom to decide who will be his bride, but for the entire family clan. Before each wedding, there is a long selection process and each other’s families are meticulously analyzed to determine their compatibility. Only rarely have the bride and groom even seen each other before the wedding. Arpit and Ankita were lucky: Their parents gave them time to get to know each other better before their wedding. But their marriage is and will remain arranged.
