Each day, he and his team of miners brave treacherous conditions in the coal mines of Nalaikh, a sparse post-Soviet town on the edges of the capital city.

But as Ulaanbaatar’s skies grow ever more polluted, a looming ban on raw coal threatens an entire industry, and forces Enkhbaatar and his team to rethink their future.
