Bamboo fibres are uniquely flexible and shock-resistant. Years ago, it was used to build houses and bridges in Indonesia, but concrete eventually took over, despite Indonesia being a high-risk area for earthquakes and hence better suited for bamboo structures. 現在, the designer Linda Garland, founder of the International Bamboo Foundation, and the jeweller John Hardy have made bamboo popular again by building sustainable luxury accommodations. Nature is no longer incompatible with luxury!
