Starting in the popular tourist spot Cancún on the Yucatán Peninsula, they take the 2.5-hour drive to visit the Mayan ruins and ancient structures. The highlight is the Temple of Kukulcán (El Castillo), a 24-meter-high pyramid.

As impressive as the Mayan architecture is, learning about some of the brutal rituals they practiced is not for the faint hearted.Chichen Itza is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as well as one of the most visited archeological sites in Mexico. Dhruv’s tip: Pay the entrance fee in cash – it’s cheaper than with credit card.Dhruv and Juli also visit the nearby Cenotes, water-filled limestone sinkholes. Of course, Dhruv can’t resist jumping into one of them.
