Indonesians sue Swiss firm over climate change I DW News

As sea levels rise due to human-caused global warming, the homes and livelihoods of millions of people in low-lying areas are coming under threat. Often the biggest sources of the greenhouse gases that raise global temperatures are half-a-world away from the worst-affected areas.

Residents of a tiny Indonesian island are suing a Switzerland-based cement maker for its role in exacerbating climate change. The plaintiffs say that global emissions caused by Holcim have contributed to sea level rise around their home, Pari island. They want the Swiss firm to pay upand to cut emissions.
