This year marks Jazz at LACMA’s 30th season of celebrating L.A.’s finest jazz musicians. Trumpeter and band leader Brian Swartz’s diverse career has ranged from recordings and tours with Bob Florence’s Limited Edition and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy to projects with The Dixie Chicks and Michael Bublé. Swartz, winner of the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, has recorded a number of albums for Summit Records. His latest recording, “畫像,” was inspired by his playing at Alice Coltrane’s memorial service.
