手錶: Biden calls for crackdown on fentanyl trafficking | 2023 State of the Union
President Joe Biden called for an end to fentanyl trafficking during his State of the Union address. “Let’s launch a major surge to stop fentanyl production and the sale and trafficking with more drug detection machines, inspection, cargo, stop pills and powders at the border,” Biden said.
He called for more cooperation with shipping companies such as Fedex in the effort to tamp down on trafficking.
As he begun speaking on the 70,000 Americans killed by fentanyl a year, he was interrupted by heckling by some Republican lawmakers in the audience, with one member shouting, “It’s your fault.”
This is Biden’s second State of the Union address, as his first was a joint address to Congress in April 2021.
Last year, Biden used his address to emphasize themes of bipartisanship and unity. But he now faces a split Congress, with the GOP-led House launching efforts to investigate his family and his administration.
