What Does theDirty SouthMean to You? Community Interpretations

On Jun 11, 2021, VMFA launched a contest asking you to produce an original 3-minute video answering the question, “What does the “Dirty South” mean to you?”

To get the creative juices flowing, we asked several community creators to film their own interpretations, and that’s what you see here.

Community creators include the Richmond Symphony; Richmond Triangle Players; Roscoe Burnems, Richmond’s Poet Laureate; Brown Ballerinas for Change; Z-Bey Tha Poet; and VMFA Girls for a Change Girl Action Team. This video compilation was shown at VMFA on May 20–22, 2021.

Submissions for the video contest are open from Jun 11 – Jul 23 and can include any form of artistic expression. Winners will be determined by popular vote between August 6 – 八月 20.
