This routine was inspired by a piece of Greek Mythology that I loved when I was growing up. It was a story of a goddess, Persephone, who gets tricked by Hades, the God of the underworld. He tempts Persephone into eating 6 pomegranate seeds while she is in the underworld but the food of the underworld comes at a terrible price. For 6 months out of the year, one for each seed she eats, Persephone must live in the underworld with Hades. Persephone’s mother was the Goddess of Harvest so for the 6 moths that Persephone is in the underworld every year, her mother mourns her daughter and no plants grow. This explains why no plants grow during the 6 months of fall and winter.
