Chinese state media says Beijing is continuing to carry out what it calls ‘combat training’ in the waters around Taiwan. This comes despite China officially declaring an end to three days of intensive military drills on Monday. Beijing said the exercises served as a warning to proponents of Taiwanese independence, and against foreign interference. The island’s President Tsai Ing-wen has condemned China’s actions, describing them as irresponsible and a threat to stability in the region.
