Blind Spotby Jan Ritsema & Sandy Williams

Leonard Cohen, Johann Sebastian Bach and Niklas Luhmann
on stage. Dance pop, dance classic, dance system theory!
The dancer/theater director Jan Ritsema did it again! After
his hit “Weak dance strong questions” with Jonathan
Burrows, he has put together this new duet with Canadian
dancer Sandy Williams, in which they aim at a “blind spot.”
Who actually perceives of their own body and mind while
watching a performance? This is precisely the “blind spot”
Ritsema and Williams are getting at in a piece where dance
and language clash and burn their way into the hearts of the
audience. 这里, both intellect and emotion are stimulated,
which is exactly the point of this unruly piece. As Luhmann
writes, “Only communication can communicate!” And as
Cohen sings, “And you want to travel with her/And you want
to travel blind (…)/For she’s touched your perfect body with
her mind.”
