Business secretary: critical worker list will be released in England amid ‘pingdemic’ chaos

Business secretary Kwasi Kwarteng told BBC Breakfast the scope of exemptions will be ‘very narrow’, implying that shop workers won’t be included despite pressures caused by ‘pingdemic’. Businesses are expected to be told on Thursday whether their staff could qualify for “critical worker” status, enabling them to leave self-isolation in England if they are double-vaccinated to avert major disruption to food supplies.
