Incubatorby Philipp Gehmacher

The stage is an incubator. Inside, four figures unfold, stretch out, roll up and come to life. Each movement shows either one singular movement or is already a gesture. The young Austrian master of choreography Philipp Gehmacher loves to analyze. His project “incubator,” which has previously been shown and celebrated in Vienna, 柏林, Brussels and Lyon, is now making a stop at ImPuls. In this piece, the choreographer explores different variations of communicative contexts of the minded body. Constantly searching for new choreographic forms of expression, Gehmacher, Sabine Holzer, Clara Cornil and David Subal inquire what a gesture situated on the border between utterability and readability could be. The answer can be found somewhere in this phenomenal piece.
