Indian Media under attack by Modi government | 德国之声

Journalists and newsrooms in India are under attack by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his government. They do not like criticism. Neither does any government, but India is meant to be the world’s largest democracy and a place that is supposed to welcome freedom of the press.

Yet, most recently, police raided the homes of journalists working for NewsClick, a popular online news website that reports on the failures and shortcomings of the Modi government. Officers confiscated computers and phones, and said the raids were part of an anti-terror investigation. But journalists from across the political spectrum have come together and denounced the government’s action.
