Surviving Kenya’s prison system | 德国之声纪录片

In Kenya, society looks down on former prison inmates. But now, a private initiative is offering a re-integration program that includes training courses. Our report focuses on a female inmate who is participating in the program.

Life in African prisons is hard – and those in Kenya are no exception. Hygiene standards are low, and violence among the inmates is common. The prison experience often stays with them, long after they’ve served their time. Some inmates are concerned about returning to their home villages after prison. The program provides them with the skills and strategies for successful re-integration.
