There is a whole school of architecture that deals with small and smallest living units. In Europe, it is hard to imagine spending years of your life in flats of less than 20 square metres. So the so-called “small scale flats” are not just a form of art, they are a cultural phenomenon. The architects Osamu Nishida, Hitoshi Wakamatsu, Sou Fujimoto, Mitsuhiko Sato and Satoku Shinohara are the stars of this new form of architecture, which is both functional and aesthetic.

Urbanization and megacities are comparable to major natural phenomena. It’s all about contributing and rising to the crucial challenges of the here and now.
