Vishvarupa, Master of Yoga

Exhibition researcher Mekala Krishnan, now The E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Fellow in Indian and Himalayan Art at the Philadelphia Museum, discusses the signature image of the “Together We’re One” campaign, the Smithsonian’s first major crowdfunding effort to support “Yoga: The Art of Transformation” — the world’s first exhibition of yogic art, opening with your support in October. Mekala grew up familiar with Hindu texts, and while working on the exhibition, she was surprised to learn that in the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna is described as a Master of Yoga!
