WATCH: Kennedy slams Democrats for ‘hurt feelings’ in Supreme Court ethics hearing

During a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Supreme Court ethics reform, Sen. John Kennedy, R-La., characterized Democrats’ concerns on the topic as agenda-driven and informed by their disappointment with the high court’s decisions.

Kennedy said that his Democratic colleagues need to move past their “hurt feelings” for “the sake of the Constitution.”

He added that Justice Thomas’ “rich friend” – billionaire Harlan Crow – had no business before the Supreme Court, and that history is full of examples of “public officials failing to disclose their every transaction.”

“We can acknowledge it’s required by law – it is. We can acknowledge it’s the right thing to do – it is,” Kennedy said. “But we can do that without maligning each justice’s motives and the entire institution’s credibility, for God’s sake.”
