In April 2009, central Italy was hit by a severe earthquake causing the destruction of the city of L’Aquila. Sixty-thousand citizens lost their homes and were relocated to tent camps. The Italian government launched a shelter programme and promised a fast rebuilding programme. Two Witness films were made about those living in the emergency camps, and then as they left the camps to rebuild their lives: From ZeroAsk the Dust and From ZeroNext Moves. Now almost two years on, L’Aquila has faded from the news, as has the ‘fast rebuilding plan’. The city is a ghost town, the Civil Guard has left, handing all the problems back to the mayorthere is no structure, no finance and a shattered community. This film returns to the characters previously filmedNicoletta, Mario, Saleh, Rosa and Antonello to find out what happened to them.
