Μεταφορά νότιας μετόπης 1 Παρθενώνα / Transfer of Parthenon’s south metope 1

H νότια μετόπη 1 (Ακρ. 20707), αυτή της επονομαζόμενης «Κενταυρομαχίας» καταβιβάστηκε από τον Παρθενώνα στις 15 Μαΐου 2012 από τα συνεργεία της Υπηρεσίας Συντήρησης Μνημείων Ακρόπολης (ΥΣΜΑ). Ακολούθησε ένα εντατικό πρόγραμμα επεμβάσεων στο εργαστήριο συντήρησης του παλαιού μουσείου στην Ακρόπολη, το οποίο περιλάμβανε καθαρισμό από επικαθήσεις, στερέωση και μικροσυγκολλήσεις θραυσμάτων, συμπληρώσεις κενών και ρωγμών καθώς και σχεδιασμό και κατασκευή βάσης στήριξης. Η μετόπη, από τις 19 Ιουνίου 2012, εκτίθεται στο Μουσείο Ακρόπολης.

South metope 1 (Ακρ. 20707), depicting a scene of the Centauromachy, was removed from the Parthenon on the 15th of June, 2012 by the crew of the Acropolis Restoration Service (YSMA). The metope then underwent an intensive programme of conservation in the conservation laboratory of the Old Acropolis Museum, which included its cleaning and removal of deposits, stabilization and micro-attachment of fragments, supplementations on gaps and cracks, as well as the designing and constructing an appropriate base to support it. The metope has been on display in the Acropolis Museum since the 19th of June, 2012.
