Τo Κύπελλο Bréal του Σπύρου Λούη στο Μουσείο Ακρόπολης
Tο Μουσείο Ακρόπολης παρουσιάζει σε ξεχωριστή προθήκη στον προθάλαμό του το ιστορικό Κύπελλο που είχε απονεμηθεί στον Σπύρο Λούη, το νικητή του μαραθωνίου αγώνα στους πρώτους Σύγχρονους Ολυμπιακούς Αγώνες στην Αθήνα το 1896. Το ασημένιο Κύπελλο, έπαθλο που πρόσφερε ο διάσημος φιλέλληνας και γλωσσολόγος Michel Bréal, αποκτήθηκε στις 18 Απριλίου 2012 από το Ίδρυμα Σταύρος Νιάρχος (ΙΣΝ) σε δημοπρασία του οίκου Christie’s. Εκτίθεται σε χώρο που δεν απαιτεί την αγορά εισιτηρίου, σύμφωνα και με τη δέσμευση του ΙΣΝ να καταστήσει το Κύπελλο προσβάσιμο σε όλους.

Spyros Louis’s Bréal Cup at the Acropolis Museum
The Acropolis Museum presents the historic ‘Bréal Cup’ awarded to Spyros Louis, the winner of the marathon race at the inaugural Modern Olympic Games, held in Athens in 1896. The Silver Cup, trophy donated by the famous philhellene and linguist Michel Bréal, was acquired in an auction held at Christie’s on 18 April 2012 by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF). The Cup is displayed at a distinct area of the Museum where visitors are not required to buy a ticket, as per the Foundation’s commitment to make the Cup accessible to all.
