Berlin’s iconic landmark, the Siegessäule (Victory Column) was inaugurated 150 years ago, on September 2, 1873. Poured from the bronze of looted canons, the column featuring the goddess of victory was erected in 1873 to commemorate the victories of Germany over Denmark, Austria and France between 1864 and 1871.
