Can China keep its food scandal-free? : We look at the struggles of food safety.

The issue of ‘tainted’ food in China has become an increasingly common problem. Not only is it the world’s largest producer of food, but it has frequently come under scrutiny for the questionable quality of food it produces.

From toxic baby formula to last year’s issue of ‘fake’ beef. Now officials are investigating how rotten meat was allowed into restaurants intol Chinese McDonald’s and Starbucks branches.

Although the government says it has the strongest food safety laws up-to-date, enforcement of those laws are challenging in such a large food market industry.

Chinese food scandals have people wondering, “what exactly is safe to eat?”
