Collection Highlights: Les hasards heureux de l’escarpolette (The Swing) by Jean Honoré Fragonard

Originally commissioned by an unnamed gentleman of the court, Les hasards heureux de l’escarpolette (The Swing) of c.1767-1768 by Jean-Honoré Fragonard (1732-1806) has become the artist’s most celebrated painting. Painted in a Rococo style to suggest the libertine intentions of its patron, The Swing can be found in The Wallace Collection’s Oval Drawing Room.

Music by David Hilowitz.
