CHAPLIN – A Ballet by Mario Schröder

The small guy with his mustache, his bowler hat and his bamboo cane is world-famous – however, who is the man behind this figure? The ballet describes Chaplin’s life in constant connection with his creative work and shows that an artist, observing his environment both sensitively and wide awake, stands behind the funny Tramp.

POPPEA//POPPEA in 3D – Choreographer Christian Spuck

For this production, Christian Spuck was inspired by Claudio Monteverdi’s last opera, L’incoronazione di Poppea. The story of the marriage of the Emperor Nero and Poppea Sabina still brings a chill to audiences today, portraying as it does the cruel lust for power and passion at the court of the Roman ruler.

THE GREAT MASS – A Ballet by Uwe Scholz

The ballet “The Great Mass” is one of the most impressive works of the important neoclassical choreographer Uwe Scholz – a requiem, a choreographic revelation and certainly his grand legacy to the Leipzig ballet – it absorbs the structure of the liturgy of Mozart’s Mass in C minor and adds other works by Mozart as well as passages of Gregorian chant.
