Family Day June 2020 Art Rosenbaum

Callan Steinmann, curator of education, introduces the artist and folk music documentarian and musician Art Rosenbaum, then discusses the junction of art and folk music expressed in the painting “McIntosh County Shouters.”

This tour was developed in conjunction of the June 20, 2020 Family Day program, Local Art (Rosenbaum): “Join us for this special collaboration with UGA’s Special Collections Libraries as we celebrate local artist Art Rosenbaum and his art on campus. We’ll explore the history and music of the McIntosh County Shouters, the subject of a painting by Rosenbaum at the museum. And we’ll look at Georgia’s political history as captured by Rosenbaum in his mural ‘Doors’ created for the Richard B. Russell Library for Political Research and Studies. Free art kits available from K.A. Artist Shop will include a canvas and all the supplies you need to paint your own masterpiece. Family Day art kits are sponsored by Heyward Allen Motor Co., Inc., Heyward Allen Toyota and the Friends of the Georgia Museum of Art.”
