Frick Perspectives:
Impressed by Degas, Monet, Renoir

Emerson Bowyer, Searle Curator of European Painting and Sculpture, Art Institute of Chicago

Delivered at The Frick Collection on February 8, 2020, this lecture examines the museum’s small but significant group of Impressionist paintings. Bowyer considers both Henry Clay Frick’s interest in Impressionism and how his collecting activity compared with that of contemporaneous Chicago collectors such as Bertha and Potter Palmer.
