In this period of global and societal change, collectively we are spending more time than ever apart and online. Given the shift to experiencing the world digitally, how do we stay connected to our senses IRL (in real life)? What have we lost and what have we found in this shift of being? How does this differ from person to person?
This specially curated programme invites you to reflect on felt, sensate experiences – asking, when distance is a necessity, how can dance and performance remind us of what makes us feel alive?
The works were selected through an open call by a panel made up of artists and other arts organisations alongside our public programmes team, who felt they offered a range of different lived experiences of touch, sight, sound, attention and movement, whether situated in the current moment or from our recent history.
The festival features audio works, short films, recorded performances, live online performances and a panel discussion: tune in to the works below to find out more.
The panel for this festival comprised of: Amy Bell (Artist Development Producer, The Place), Bakani Pick-Up (Freelance Choreographer), Es Morgan (Freelance Dance Artist and Marketing & Programme Coordinator at Chisenhale Dance Space), and Jessica Greer (Theatre Programme Producer, The Place).
Presented by The Place in partnership with Chisenhale Dance Space.
Bakani Pick-Up was selected to represent CDS Membership as co-curator on the panel.
