The International Monetary Fund releases its economic outlook for sub-Saharan Africa and warns that the continent is facing massive food insecurity compounded by rising inflation.

Chad had faced severe drought, and then the worst flooding the country has seen in 30 years. The UN’s agencies have said over 2 million people now face acute hunger.
