Jaume Plensa Masters Series Lecture

Famed artist and poet Jaume Plensa of Barcelona, Spain, created the newest addition to the Toledo Museum of Art’s Welles Sculpture Garden. He talks about this work during a free presentation in the Museum’s Peristyle. Spiegle, created in 2010, is composed of two crouching giants given shape by a steel latticework consisting of individual letters welded together—making no legible sense—from eight different alphabets. Plensa’s sculptures can be seen in public spaces around the world. In the United States his most widely known sculpture is Crown Fountain at Millennium Park in Chicago.
