Looking at Cookbooks: Seven Centuries of Visual Feasts

Among discerning foodies, Darra Goldstein is a respected figure. The food and cultural journal she founded, Gastronomica, has earned high marks since its inception in 2001, including a recent James Beard Foundation Award for publication of the year and a spot on Saveur magazine’s top 100. Goldstein is also a professor of Russian at Williams College and an accomplished cookbook author, publishing “A Taste of Russia,” “The Georgian Feast,” “The Winter Vegetarian” and “Baking Boot Camp.” She brings her unique knowledge of food and cookbook history to the Toledo Museum of Art Masters Series, where she’ll discuss the kitchen manual’s role as an aesthetic symbol of our culture. The Masters Series is sponsored in part by the TMA Ambassadors.
