Nuclear energy in France – The debate after the Fukushima nuclear disaster

The Fukushima disaster has reopened the debate on the dangers of nuclear energy and the transparency of those exploiting a highly politicized industry. In response to the European Commission’s demands, France has agreed to carry out “Stress Tests” to assess the safety of all its power plants. Within an environment where industry and politics are more closely linked than ever, 1,100 incidents were reported last year on French soil. The reason: the massive recourse to subcontracting in the Atomic world.
