reVIEW: Al Jazeera’s weekly Programme Highlights (Jul 1 – 8)

Al Jazeera English had three very different documentaries about ‎Afghanistan‬ this week. Here’s a preview of each one:

1 – ‘The Girls of the Taliban’ provides an insight into a girls’ school in Afghanistan which imposes an even stricter interpretation of Islam than the ‪Taliban‬ [http://aje.io/tgrm].

2 – In ‘Saving Mes Aynak’, Witness looks at whether Afghan archaeologists can take on the Chinese and the Taliban to save a 5,000-year-old archaeological site [http://aje.io/b93n].

3 – In ‘Afghanistan: No Country for Women’, 101 East discovers that it is not the Taliban that poses the greatest threat to women – it is their own families [http://aje.io/gga3].
