The Salon Doré: De-installing a Period Room

The yearlong project The Salon Doré: Conservation of a Period Room at the Legion of Honor. Over the course of a year, conservators and curators worked together to conserve and restore the 18th-century French period room to its original glory. In the fall of 2012, the Salon was completely de-installed from its location in Gallery 11. All the components of the room were subsequently moved to the adjacent gallery, Gallery 13, where they were worked on by conservators in full view of the public.
