Virtual African American Read-In: Odili Donald Odita’s Procession

On February 4, 2021 Valerie Cassel Oliver, Sydney and Frances Lewis Family Curator of Contemporary Art for VMFA was joined by Dr. Carmenita Higginbotham, Dean, VCUart, and Dr. Hermine Pinson, Frances L. and Edwin L. Cummings Professor of English & Africana Studies for the first day of the Virtual African American-Read In. Dr. Higginbotham read the poem, “On Odili Donald Odita’s Procession, A Story in Color” by Dr. Pinson and the three speakers discussed its connection to the work by Odita.
