Virtual Gallery Talk | Pleasing the Eye and Palate

As the exhibition “Savor: A Revolution in Food Culture” demonstrates, dining customs and food preparation changed dramatically in the eighteenth century. Potters and silversmiths responded with great creativity to the demand for new types of culinary dishes and their presentation. This talk, with Metropolitan Museum of Art Curator Emeritus, Jeffrey Munger, explores some of the intersections of these innovations in dining habits with the decorative arts.
