🇦🇫 🇺🇸 Afghanistan & the United States: The Deeper Debate | Fault Lines

The policy of Barack Obama, the US president, towards the war in Afghanistan was born in the crucible of an election campaign.

In a break from the strategy adopted during the years of his predecessor, George Bush, he also pledged to withdraw troops from Iraq.

But with a Taliban-led insurgency continuing to grow, campaign rhetoric on Afghanistan has turned into more troops on the ground.

After weeks of partisan bickering and high-level meetings over US policy in Afghanistan, the president is still weighing his options.

In a special town hall style meeting Fault Lines brings together a panel of guests and a studio audience to discuss the future of Obama’s war.

The panel includes: General Jack Keane (Retired), Matthew Hoh, Mariam Nawabi and Jeremy Scahill.
