A panel discussion, presented in partnership with Museo Jumex in Mexico City, which focuses on socially-engaged sculpture in various modes, from social practice outright to objects which employ themes of monument and document. The discussion took place on Thursday, March 16 at 7 pm at Museo Jumex, featuring artists Pedro Reyes (Mexico), Amalia Pica (Argentina), and Sanford Biggers (USA) in conversation with Pablo Leon de la Barra, Nasher Prize juror and the Latin American curator of the Guggenheim UBS MAP Global Art Initiative. The discussion centered on the historical role sculpture has played in public spaces and the dynamic and evolving ways it is currently presented, especially in light of the global political climate.
