Canada’s Trudeau speaks at UN on diplomatic row with India | DW Analysis

Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has repeated claims that Indian government agents were involved in the killing of a Canadian citizen in Canada. Trudeau first made the claims on Monday sparking an escalating diplomatic rift with Delhi.

The victim was a Sikh separastist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. He had been wanted by India for years before being gunned down outside a Sikh temple in a Vancouver suburb in June.

On Thursday India announced it was freezing visa processing for Canadians and called on Canada to reduce its diplomatic staff in the Indian capital. In a press conference at the UN General Assembly on Thursday, Trudeau was asked if Canada was considering a tit-for-tat response.
