Migrant boat disaster off Greece: Pakistan calls for crackdown on human trafficking | DW News

Nine men have pleaded not guilty to people smuggling at a court in Greece following last week’s fishing trawler disaster. A lawyer representing one of the men said his client was a passenger on the ship. Pakistan has also detained a dozen suspects over the disaster.

At least 78 people are known to have died after the boat capsized. Hundreds of people are still missing following the tragedy and many of them are believed to be from Pakistan. As authorities continued to search for victims and survivors of a trawler that sank off the coast of Greece with as many as 750 migrants on board, families in Pakistan are still in limbo about the fates of their loved ones.
