Pakistan: Locals rescue people trapped in a dangling cable car | DW News

Officials in Pakistan are praising locals for helping a daring rescue of people trapped in a dangling cable car. All eight, including six school children, were pulled from the gondola hundreds of meters over a remote valley.

Local rescuers stepped in after the military was only able to save one person by helicopter. The rest were brought down by a zipline rigged by a local emergency team alongside the army, working through the night.

The students were using the cable car to travel to school in the mountainous region. One of those rescued has been sharing his story.
