Virtual Evenings for Educators: Yoshitomo Nara

Drawing on memories of his childhood, music, literature, and more, artist Yoshitomo Nara shows students the value of creating art that is personal and expressive of their experiences. In this lecture, curator Mika Yoshitake discusses this renowned Japanese artist and his conceptual process.

Evenings for Educators is a professional development program for K–12 teachers focusing on LACMA’s permanent collection and special exhibitions. Each session presents strategies for incorporating the visual arts into the classroom with activities that explore the artistic process, approach works of art as primary sources, and emphasize parallels between the visual arts and core content areas.
