‘Women’s Reservation Bill’ in India: Great win for women or PM Modi stealing the show? | DW News

Let’s take a closer look at India now, and what’s called the Women’s Reservation Bill. It would ensure women hold one-third of seats in the lower legislative house – that’s the Lok Sabha, the more powerful one – as well as one-third of seats in state legislative assemblies.

All it now needs is president Droupadi Murmu to sign it, for it to become law. But victory is bittersweet, with some questioning the timing of this decision as well as how long the rollout will take. DW’s Adil Bhat reports.
