Workshop: Teaching with the Obama Portraits

The portraits of President Barack Obama by Kehinde Wiley and First Lady Michelle Obama by Amy Sherald were unveiled to much acclaim in February 2018. In this virtual workshop facilitated by the National Portrait Gallery, learn how to read the Obama Portraits using the elements of portrayal, explore the contextual information surrounding each portrait, and discuss ways to bring the portraits into your classroom.
