Crafting America Spotlight Talk: Ben Venom
This video is part of a series of lectures spotlighting artists from the exhibition “Crafting America” at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art in Bentonville, Arkansas. In this video, artist Ben Venom discusses his wide ranging influences as a proclaimed heavy-metal quilter with Editor of Juxtapoz magazine, Evan Pricco. ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Ben Venom graduated from the San Francisco Art Institute in 2007 with a Master of Fine Arts degree. His work has been shown both nationally and internationally including the Levi Strauss Museum (Germany), National Folk Museum of Korea, HPGRP Gallery (Tokyo), Fort Wayne Museum, Charlotte Fogh Gallery (Denmark), Taubman Museum of Art, Gregg Museum of Art and Design, and the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles. Recently, he was the artist in residence at MASS MoCA and the de Young Museum. Ben Venom is currently Visiting Faculty at the San Francisco Art Institute.
ABOUT EVAN PRICCO
Evan Pricco has been the editor of Juxtapoz Magazine since 2006. He has been the author and editor of the Juxtapoz Book Series, as well as co-host of the Radio Juxtapoz podcast. As a curator, he worked with Takashi Murakami on Juxtapoz x Superflat, with Roger Gastman on touring Beyond the Streets series as well as the Juxtapoz Clubhouse series and Juxtapoz at 25: In Black & White exhibitions. He is currently based in California.
